:: My apologies - role playing forum database deleted :: (16 November 2005) Due to the sheer traffic in the role playing board and my database that wasn't designed to handle several requests at once, the database for that board kept doubling and getting exponentially worse, currently sitting at over 300MB. At 6K/s, that's a 10 hour download for me to get the file and fix it, then I have to reupload it. The time it will take is, I'm sorry to say, not worth it, so I've just uploaded and old backup there. Posts made in the past few weeks have been lost, sorry! :: Shout board double posting issue fixed! :: (16 November 2005) Most people were aware of the double posting problem on the shout board when you refreshed the front page - that issue has finally been fixed  :: Shout Board Archived :: (14 November 2005) The shout board was slowing down the front page drastically with the current database, so I truncated it - that cut the processing time of the front page down from 5.3 seconds to 4.1 seconds. I have got a backup of all truncated messages so when I move on to SQL Server I can put them back online. :: Yukon Fan Art Section :: (12 November 2005) I've changed the Yukon Art Contest section to the Yukon Fan Art section and changed the contents accordingly. Thanx to Greykitty and Lord_Of_War I have 2 new additions to the page, first a prize from Greykitty (I won her art contest on DA) and secondly a gift from Lord_Of_War:
I've implemented a new system that tracks visitors on this website and will make it very easy for admin/mods and I to easily control and ban problematic visitors. The automated banning system will be active soon, but any offendors who post on this site from today forth can be easily banned at any time - and changing your IP address won't work. :: Yukon Art Contest :: (10 October 2005) I've had a good look through all the entries sent through and have narrowed the options down to 7 - please vote for your favourite one in the poll above! Everyone who entered (all 12 artists) will get a free 25MB POP3/webmail email address @baltocentral.org with built-in virus protection and an optional SPAM blocker! Greykitty gets a 50MB account since she entered twice ;) There will be 3 additional prized awarded for the top 3 pictures (still to be decided). :: Chatting on the shout board :: (10 October 2005) I've finally put up a script to attempt to prevent chatting & swearing on the shout board. :: Username changes :: (5 October 2005) I've had to rename some of the members on this website to support the new subdomain structure (see previous post). Many of these people don't have valid email addresses submitted, so I'll list them here:
A lot of problems were fixed, and subdomain support is almost completely finished. All users now have their own subdomain (eg. mine is yukon.baltocentral.org). In order to fully support these though, I've had to change the way usernames work though. From now on, no special characters are allowed in usernames (like "." or "~"). Also, spaces " " are now interchangable with underscores "_" - so if a user "joe soap" exists, you cannot then sign up as "joe_soap". If your username has a space in it, swap it with an underscore to get your subdomain (eg. if your username is "Gray Wolf", your subdomain is gray_wolf.baltocentral.org). :: Contest :: (3 October 2005) Firstly, the Yukon art contest is closed. I know the stats on this site don't match those results - I really gotta fix those some time =P Anywayz, I decided some work on the site was in order...so I got up this morning, and apart from my 3 meals I worked non-stop on BC the whole day, and you can see the result! More to come of coures ;) Next I gotta bring the loading time of the front page down...it's currently sitting at 9.219 seconds, which is shockingly terrible! YAY! Took me around 6 hours, mostly because of troubleshooting. It's a little more fancy than you think - for example if you never entered your country before, it will automatically determine what country you are from. It also allows you to change your username and password - this was the tricky part on my side. I had to write code for so many possibilities (making sure you can't choose the same username as someone else, but being able to change the capitilisation of your username, etc.). Anywayz enough blabbering - go update your profile ;) :: HAH! Check it out - all members get their own subdomain! :: (8 July 2005) Try it! Instead of tacky URLs like www.baltocentral.org/comm_member.asp?ID=[member ID], your member profiles can now be accessed via URLs like yukon.baltocentral.org! So yours will be [your username].baltocentral.org! I think there are a few bugs with the subdomains though (when you follow other links after going to someone's subdomain for example), I'll have to redesign this site not to use frames to fix those bugs...I'll get round to that soon. :: FAOTD :: (8 June 2005) Whoops.. forgot to update the fan art of the month, hence the error - fixed =P Oh yeah and also fixed the music videos (links were broken). :: Fan art feature! :: (31 May 2005) Artists can now choose whether they want users to be able to quick-rate or review their art! I've also created a scraps section for artists - though it is only available on request at the moment. :: Shout Rules :: (29 May 2005) I've been very busy lately, hence I haven't attended to BC much, I know. The little time I've been online, I've spent on things like my DA account. Awwww...so close in August, my fault for not updating the site from then until now :( - but it'll get there. Soon. At least it's up to an average of 111 visitors a day from 64 in the first half of 2004. :: Member list bug fixed :: (14 January 2005) Fixed a bug that prevented the listing of the newest few members of the site. Oh yeah and I added more fan art as I've been doing daily lately... :: Yahoo status :: (13 January 2005) Member profile pages now show the online status of Yahoo Messenger users :: Yukon's Art Contest :: (12 January 2005) ...has been extended!. The contest will be open until there are 15 entries posted! There are 4 so far (go have a look - they've been uploaded to the "Yukon's Art Compo" section)...so there's still a bit of time left. Oh yeah, and I'm deciding on a prize...A board of judges will be selected to review entries for a winner - the winner will receive probably something along the lines of a professional looking website designed and developed for them - something I would usually charge a few hundred US$ for. If you want to view a particular person's fan works only, go to the "list members" section and click the name of that member. A few technical updates made, fixed a bug & updated the polls in the polls section, and I'm adding some new fan art. Oh and I didn't get to set the Fan Art Of The Month image in time from it's emergency default...but the one I have now changed it to is by the same artist (Greykitty), so it shouldn't be much of a problem ;) :: Links section fixed and has 2 new features :: (23 February 2004) Links section back up. I thereafter realized I don't even have the whole movie (how blind!)...
so I took screenshots where I could (hence certain chunks of the movie haven't been covered)...but hey! Better than nothing ;)
As for the last 3/4 of the movie that I don't have - I took screenshots from video clips I downloaded elsewhere (so sue me!!!)

Check it out here :: Left Menu done up :: (14 September 2003) Took me a lot longer than expected thanx to Netscape and everything it doesn't support, but it's ready anyhow. It still runs a lot better in Internet Explorer (the dynamic transparency effect, collapsing menus, etc. won't show in Netscape - so do yourself a favour & switch to IE =P). :: Site code enhanced, making website expansion possible :: (14 September 2003) I spent around 8 hours today (yes, the whole day) reprogramming the whole website in my new style of programming...this will enable quicker future updates (and other bonuses). No, you won't notice anything different, but for all the same pages still running the same, I managed to cut the source code down from 452KB to 281KB. So on my side it's a big difference. :: Shout box added! :: (11 September 2003) I've been wanting to do this for a while...I see Grey Kitten has one (though called something else), so I programmed one during the early hours of the morning (what can I say? I'm sick...couldn't sleep...) - c'mon shout ur message! I modified the graphics and frames in order for more space in the content window. Many other aspects (new features, modifications, etc.) developed over the past 2 months - enjoy! :: Balto 3 information :: (19 June 2003) An interview with some of the creators of Balto 3 reveals some information about the future release. For me, working on a resolution of 2560x1024, I didn't take into account how the site would be on lower resolutions like 800x600. I'll see to that when I get the chance. :: Site Statistics :: (3 December 2002) I'm VERY pround of my hit counter (made use of some ASP scripts I've never tried before).
